Vehicle sales up 7% in November 2022 - MAA

Malaysia’s new vehicle sales rebounded in November 2022, rising 7% year-on-year to 64,404 units after recording a 6% drop in October.

马来西亚新车销量在10月下降6%后，于2022年11月反弹，同比增长7%至64,404辆。

The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) said total vehicle sales for the first 11 months of this year stood at 642,306 units, up 45 % from 443,636 units in the corresponding period of 2021.

马来西亚汽车协会（MAA）表示，今年前11个月的汽车总销量为642,306辆，比2021年同期的443,636辆增长45%。

In a statement on 17th December, the association said the November 2022 sales were 6% higher compared with the 61,002 vehicles sold in the immediate preceding month.

该协会在12月17日的一份声明中表示，与前一个月销售的 61,002 辆汽车相比，2022 年 11 月的销量高出 6%。

"Car companies continued to fulfil many of the bookings received prior to 30th June, 2022 (the deadline for passenger vehicle sales tax exemption),” it said.

“汽车公司继续履行在2022年6月30日（乘用车销售税豁免截止日期）之前收到的许多预订，”它说。

MAA projected that sales for December 2022 would be higher than in November due to car companies rushing to fulfil many outstanding bookings as well as year-end promotions by certain makes.

Meanwhile, vehicle production in the country grew 13 % in November 2022 to 65,669 units compared with 58,079 units a year earlier.

In the January-November 2022 period, the industry produced 633,421 vehicles, an increase of 48 % from 427,485 vehicles in the same period last year.
