Malaysia, China look forward to more constructive engagements
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir held a video call with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on 14th December. It was the first online meeting between them since the former was appointed to the post on 3rd December.

The Malaysian Foreign Ministry, via an update on its official Twitter account @Wisma Putra, said during the meeting, both sides said they are looking forward to more constructive engagements as well as promoting and enhancing people-to-people contact between the two countries.

They had also acknowledged the long-standing and historical bilateral ties, and gave their commitment towards taking the relations to greater heights for the mutual benefit of the two nations and well being of the peoples.

“Their discussion paved the way for further strengthening of bilateral relations as both countries are geared towards commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership next year, and the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024,” it tweeted.

Apart from welcoming the exchange of high level visits, the two Foreign Ministers also discussed bilateral issues including trade and investment, as well as cooperation in regional and international issues of mutual interest.
