Wholesale & retail trade posts strong growth to RM133.9bil in October

Malaysia’s wholesale and retail trade continued to record a sturdy growth of 15.2 % to RM133.9 billion in October 2022, said the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM).

马来西亚统计局（DoSM）表示，马来西亚的批发和零售贸易在2022年10月继续录得15.2%的强劲增长，达到1339亿令吉。

In a statement on 9th December , chief statistician Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the increase in October was attributed to retail trade sub-sector which rose RM12.0 billion or 26.0 % to RM58.3 billion.

首席统计师Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin在12月9日的一份声明中表示，10月份的增长归因于零售贸易子行业，增长了120亿令吉或26.0%，达到583亿令吉。

"Wholesale trade and motor vehicles also grew 7.3 % (+RM4.1 billion) to RM59.9 billion and 11.2 % (+RM1.6 billion) to RM15.7 billion, respectively,” he said.

他说：“批发贸易和汽车也分别增长了7.3%（+41亿令吉）至599亿令吉和11.2%（+16亿令吉）至157亿令吉。

For a month-on-month comparison, he said the sales value of wholesale and retail trade decreased -0.1 %, contributed by motor vehicles and wholesale trade, at -3.5 % and -0.3 %, respectively.

对于环比比较，他说批发和零售贸易的销售价值下降了-0.1%，主要是机动车和批发贸易，分别为-3.5%和-0.3%。

On the performance across sub-sectors, he noted that the retail trade sub-sector's growth of 26.0 % in October 2022 was supported by retail sales in non-specialised stores which grew 25.7 % or RM4.4 billion to RM21.6 billion.

关于各子行业的表现，他指出，零售业子行业在2022年10月增长了26.0%，这得益于非专卖店的零售额增长25.7%或44亿令吉至216亿令吉。

"On a month-on-month comparison, sales of this sub-sector went up 1.1 %, mainly contributed by the increase in retail sales in non-specialised stores, retail sales in specialised stores, and retail sales of automotive fuels at 1.4 %, 2.1 %, and 1.1 %, respectively,” he said.

“与月环比相比，该子行业的销售额增长了1.1%，主要得益于非专卖店零售额、专卖店零售额和汽车燃料零售额分别增长1.4%、2.1%和1.1%，”他说。

Commenting on wholesale trade sub-sector, Mohd Uzir pointed out that the increase of 7.3 % was mainly attributed to other specialised wholesale which grew 3.1 % to RM22.7 billion.

Mohd Uzir在评论批发贸易子行业时指出，7.3%的增长主要归因于其他专业批发，增长3.1%至227亿令吉。

However, he said for a month-on-month comparison, sales of this sub-sector decreased 0.3 % which was mainly contributed by other specialised wholesale which contracted 1.8 %.

然而，他表示，与月度相比，该子行业的销售额下降了0.3%，这主要是由其他专业批发商贡献的，收缩了1.8%。

He also said the 11.2 % growth in motor vehicles sub-sector in October was spearheaded by sales of motor vehicle parts and accessories at 49.2 %, or an increase of RM1.3 billion, to RM4.0 billion.

他还表示，10月份汽车子行业增长11.2%，主要是由汽车零部件和配件的销售额增长49.2%，或增加13亿令吉，达到40亿令吉。

"This was followed by maintenance and repair of motor vehicles which rose 62.4 % or RM0.8 billion to RM2.1 billion, while for monthly comparison, sales of this sub-sector dropped 3.5 %, caused by sales of motor vehicles which fell 5.9 %,” he said.

他说：“其次是机动车的保养和维修，增长了62.4%或8亿令吉至21亿令吉，而对于月度比较，该子行业的销售额下降了3.5%，原因是机动车的销售额下降了5.9%。

He noted that index of retail sale over the Internet in October 2022 recorded a 17.3 % growth year-on-year, and for seasonally adjusted value index, it increased 2.6 % as against the previous month.

他指出，2022年10月互联网零售销售指数同比增长17.3%，经季节性调整的价值指数较上月上升2.6%。

In terms of volume index, the chief statistician said wholesale and retail trade for October 2022 registered a year-on-year growth of 10.5 %, contributed by retail trade and motor vehicles, which increased 22.3 % and 3.0 %, respectively.

在数量指数方面，首席统计师表示，2022年10月批发和零售贸易同比增长10.5%，其中零售贸易和汽车分别增长22.3%和3.0%。

Similarly, wholesale trade also recorded a positive growth with 0.8 %.

同样，批发贸易也录得正增长，为0.8%。

"However, the seasonally adjusted volume index went down 2.3 % month-on-month,” Mohd Uzir added.

 “然而，经季节性调整的成交量指数环比下降2.3%，”Mohd Uzir补充道。
