Wee: Malaysia and China keen to complete Singapore-Kunming railway project
Malaysia and China are both keen to complete the Singapore-Kunming Rail Link (SKRL) project, so that countries in the Asean region can benefit from an efficient public transport system in passenger or cargo services.
马来西亚和中国都热衷于完成新加坡 - 昆明铁路（SKRL）项目，以便东盟地区的国家可以从高效的客运或货运公共交通系统中受益。
Caretaker Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong stated this in the 21st Asean-China transport ministers' meeting in Bali, Indonesia.

Malaysia is the permanent chairman of the SKRL working committee.

The Asean secretariat, he added, also shared the same view about cross-border rail transport and cooperation on new rail projects involving all Asean countries, especially those who are not involved in the projects.
他补充说，东盟秘书处也对跨境铁路运输和涉及所有东盟国家的新铁路项目合作持相同看法，特别是那些未参与项目的国家。
“Discussions between Asean countries are most crucial as they involve mutual recognition in rail standards and traffic signals, as well as sharing information on the level of high-speed rail development," Wee said in a post on Facebook on 17th October.
“东盟国家之间的讨论至关重要，因为它们涉及铁路标准和交通信号的相互承认，以及分享有关高铁发展水平的信息，”Wee在10 月 17 日在 Facebook 上的一篇帖子中说。
The meeting also appreciated the technical expertise and financial assistance from China to Asean countries in the SKRL project, the China-Laos High-Speed Rail, and the construction of the 665km East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) in Malaysia, which is expected to be completed in 2026.
会议还赞赏中国在SKRL项目、中老高铁以及预计于2026年完工的665公里马来西亚东海岸铁路(ECRL)建设方面向东盟国家提供的技术专长和资金援助。
“Overall, the adjustment strategic plan in the Asean-China joint venture is also running smoothly, even though we are facing the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic [starting] three years ago," Wee added.
“总体而言，东盟-中国合资企业的调整战略计划也在顺利进行，尽管我们面临着 [从三年前开始的] Covid-19 大流行的挑战，”Wee 补充说。
China's Deputy Transport Minister Dai Dong Chang co-chaired the meeting virtually with Indonesian Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi.
