Malaysia's core inflation rises 4%, surpassing seven-year high
Malaysia's core inflation rose to 4% in September from the same period last year, the highest increase since at least 2015. Headline inflation eased for the first time in seven months, posting a reading of 4.5%, with growth in food prices moderating to 6.8%.

This came as the central bank lifted its benchmark interest rate for the third straight meeting last month, in an effort to tame inflation amid robust economic growth. With a rising cost of living, and the prices of goods under spotlight, the Southeast Asian natoin announced it would hold general election on 19th November, following a dissolution of Parliament on 10th October.
