Malaysia's 2021 live births see highest decrease in a decade

The number of live births in Malaysia sees the highest decrease in a decade with 439,744 births recorded in 2021 compared to 471,504 births in 2020, according to Vital Statistics, Malaysia, 2021 report released by the Department of Statistics Malaysia 13th October.

Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the Crude Birth Rate (CBR) has declined from 14.5 births in 2020 compared to 13.5 births in 2021 per thousand population.

首席统计师Datuk Seri Mohd Uzir Mahidin博士表示，粗出生率（CBR）已从 2020 年的每千人 14.5 人降至 2021 年的每千人 113.5 人。

“The Total Fertility Rate (TFR) also showed a declining trend with 1.7 babies per woman of childbearing aged 15 to 49 years in 2021 compared to 1.8 babies in 2020,” he said in a statement on 13th October.

他在10 月 13 日的一份声明中说：“总生育率 (TFR) 也呈下降趋势，到 2021 年，每名 15 至 49 岁的育龄妇女生育 1.7 个婴儿，而 2020 年为 1.8 个婴儿。”

He said for the period of 2011 to 2021, the TFR for all major ethnic groups except Malay also showed a declining trend where the highest TFR was recorded by the Malay with 2.2 babies while Chinese was the lowest with 0.8 babies per woman.

他说，在 2011 年至 2021 年期间，除马来人以外的所有主要族群的 TFR 也呈下降趋势，其中马来人的 TFR 最高，为 2.2 个婴儿，而华人最低，为每名妇女 0.8 个婴儿。

Mohd Uzir said the number of death in 2021 has increased by 34.5 % or 57,599 deaths from 166,970 deaths recorded in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic with the CDR recorded an increase from 5.1 in 2020 to 6.9 in 2021 deaths per thousand population.

Mohd Uzir 说，由于 COVID-19 大流行，2021 年的死亡人数比 2020 年记录的 166,970 人增加了 34.5% 或 57,599 人，CDR 记录的每千人死亡人数从 2020 年的 5.1 人增加到 2021 年的 6.9 人。

“All age groups recorded an increase in the number of deaths except those aged 0 to 14 which decreased from 4,288 deaths in 2020 to 4,115 deaths in 2021,” he said.

他说：“所有年龄组的死亡人数均有所增加，但 0 至 14 岁的死亡人数从 2020 年的 4,288 人减少到 2021 年的 4,115 人。”

Meanwhile, the number of deaths aged 41 to 59 years recorded the highest increase of 44 % from 36,318 in 2020 deaths to 52,282 deaths in 2021.

与此同时，41 至 59 岁的死亡人数增幅最高，从 2020 年的 36,318 人增加到 2021 年的 52,282 人，增幅为 44%。

Mohd Uzir added that the number of deaths for those aged 15 to 40 years and 60 years and above has also shown an increase from 13,070 deaths to 17,953 deaths and 113,294 deaths to 150,219 deaths, respectively

Mohd Uzir 补充说，15 至 40 岁和 60 岁及以上的死亡人数也分别从 13,070 人增加到 17,953 人，从 113,294 人增加到 150,219 人。
