Halal Food Sector To Reach RM50 Billion This Year
The halal food sector in the country is seen to continue to grow with halal food sales in Malaysia expected to reach RM50 billion this year, and becoming the center of the global halal industry.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said for that purpose various initiatives were launched by the government aimed at improving the quality of halal products and attracting more foreign investment to Malaysia.
“This includes the organization of a Mega Fatwa and Halal Carnival at the National Level like this which coincides with the spirit that we want to bring, which is that all stakeholders join forces, efforts and ideas to raise the nation’s halal awareness agenda to the community.
“We also implement and empower various digitization programs through the MyeHALAL system application that helps entrepreneurs save time and make the process of applying for Malaysian Halal certification more pleasant,” he said.
In the meantime, he said IPT’s Halal Friends will act as spokespersons for JAKIM and state religious departments to provide accurate explanations and knowledge related to halal issues and management in the country, especially to the student community.
“In this context, we want to convey da’wah in various ways, especially through social media, young people are technology experts, so I hope that with the knowledge of halal management, it can be optimized for example through the use of tik tok which is closer to them.
